Commissions works out what each team member earned as a share of their sales, for every pay period, with a statement you can print. Onsuki does the math. It does not pay anyone or file any tax.

Before you start

Set the rates

The first time, Set up service commissions asks how you want to start. Choose a template, such as Weekly barbershop, Salon by staff level or Simple percentage, to have the settings and the structure filled in for you to check, or choose Start from scratch. Nothing is saved until you select Save, and you can change everything.
1

Choose services or products

On Commissions, select the Services or Products tab, then Set up service commissions or Set up product commissions.
2

Choose a type

Choose By Member for a rate for each team member, By Service (or By Product) for a rate for each item, or By Tiers for a rate that rises with monthly sales. Select Next.
3

Choose who is paid and set the rates

Tick each team member to pay. For By Member, enter a rate for each person, or one rate in Assigned members to fill them all. If you use levels, enter a rate under Rates by level and leave a person’s rate empty to use their level’s.
4

Save

Select Save.
To change rates later, select the structure’s card on the Services or Products tab.

Choose how commission is worked out

5

Choose your pay period

Under Pay period, choose Weekly, Twice a month or Monthly. For weekly, choose the day your week starts.
6

Save

Select Save.

See what each person earned

1

Open Payouts

On Commissions, select Payouts.
2

Pick the pay period

Use the arrows beside the dates to move between pay periods. With more than one location, pick one beside the title.
3

Open a statement

Select a team member’s name to see their statement: sales by day, the total, tax taken out, the commission, and the payout.
4

Add a credit, allowance or adjustment

On the statement, select Add, choose the type, and enter the amount and a note. A credit is added to the sales commission is paid on. An allowance or adjustment is added to the payout. Use a minus sign to take an adjustment off.
Select Print to print the statement. The same figures for any dates are in Reports, Commission Earnings, with an export.

Good to know

  • A rate change takes effect the next day and never changes earlier days. The first rates you set apply to past sales too. A rate set today can be corrected today.
  • A refund takes commission back in the pay period the money went back, at the rate the sale earned. A refund never changes an earlier pay period.
  • Every statement says its figures can change until the pay period is closed. Pay periods can’t be closed yet, so a sale recorded late on an earlier day still changes that day’s pay period.
  • With By Tiers, the rate of the highest tier a team member reaches in a month applies to all of their sales that month, so the rate for the start of a month can rise as the month goes on.
  • Tips are never commission. They go to the team member whole and show beside the payout.
  • A visit paid with a package earns commission on the day of the visit, at the service’s regular price unless you chose the package’s price per visit. Selling the package earns none.
  • A sale with no team member on it, like a quick sale of a product, earns nobody a commission. Payouts shows how much that is.
  • Withholding is an estimate for your records. When you turn it on, 5% is filled in, the rate on commissions paid to individuals (10% if their income is over ₱3 million a year). Use the rate your accountant gives you. Onsuki never files it.
  • To pay someone the same allowance every pay period, open their statement and select Set beside Standing allowance. An allowance you add to one pay period replaces it for that period.
  • On a quick sale, Sold by says who earns the product commission. It starts as whoever is signed in.
  • A refund takes back exactly the commission its sale earned, even if your rates or settings changed since.
  • Each team member can see their own statement under Team, My Commission. To hide it from someone, turn off See their own commission in their permissions. See Change a team member’s permissions.
  • Don’t see Commissions? Ask an owner to give you the Manage commissions permission.
