# Sell merch in store and online

> Sell shirts, caps and other merch by size at your counter and on your Shop page, with stock kept for each location.

Merch is a product with sizes: a shirt in Small, Medium and Large, a cap in one size. You sell it over the counter with **Quick sale**, and clients buy it on your **Shop** page and pick it up. With more than one location, each location sells from its own shelf.

## Before you start

* Add the product and its sizes. See [Add a product](/business/inventory/add-a-product.md).
* Count what each location has. See [Set stock at each location](#set-stock-at-each-location) below.

## Sell at the counter

**1. Open Quick sale**

On the **Calendar**, select **Quick sale**, then **Products**. The sale is rung up at the location the calendar shows.

**2. Find the item**

The list opens on your products, with the sale going to **Walk-in**. Type in **Search by name or SKU**, or choose a **Category**. On a computer, the search is ready to type in, so a barcode scanner works straight away.

**3. Choose the size**

Select the product, then its size. Each size says how many are in stock at this location. A size this location doesn't have says **Out of stock** and can't be chosen.

**4. Finish the sale**

The item goes into the cart. Add anything else, such as a drink, then take payment as you would for any sale.

To put the sale on a client's profile instead of **Walk-in**, select **Choose a client** before you pick the item.

You can also add merch to a booking's checkout: in the cart, select **Add to cart**, then **Product**.

## What clients see on your Shop page

When every product has a photo, your **Shop** page is a grid of photos under your categories. With more than one location, clients choose where they'll pick up before the Shop lists anything, so they only see what that location has. See [How clients choose a location](/business/booking-site/choose-a-location.md).

1. A client selects a product and chooses a size. Sizes that location has sold out of show **Sold out**. The **Add** button shows the price.
2. Their cart shows the pickup location with **Change**, what is in the cart, and more products to add.
3. They select **Continue**, fill in their details, choose how to pay, then **Place order**.
4. The confirmation says where to pick it up, the location's hours today, its address with a map link, and a reference they can copy.

A card says when sizes are running out, for example **Only Large left**, so clients aren't surprised in the size list.

Clients who sign in find their order under **Bookings** as a pickup, with how far along it is. If they chose **Pay in person**, it says they pay when they pick it up.

## Prepare and hand over Shop orders

Shop orders wait in **Orders** until they're picked up.

**1. Open Orders**

In the menu, go to **Payments**, then **Orders**. **To prepare** lists new orders with each item and its size.

**2. Get it ready**

Select an order, pull the items from the shelf, then select **Mark ready for pickup**. The client's order page now says it's ready.

**3. Hand it over**

When the client arrives, take payment with **Collect** if they still owe it, then select **Mark picked up**.

Use the location menu in the title to see one location's orders.

## Set stock at each location

Each location has its own shelf. A delivery received without a location, or stock counted before you had locations, is **not placed** yet, and any location can sell it until you place it.

**1. Open the product**

In the menu, go to **Inventory**, select the product, then the **Stock** tab. Each size shows what each location holds, and how many are not placed.

**2. Select Stock by location**

Select **Stock by location**. There's a line for each size and a box for each location.

**3. Enter what is on each shelf**

Type how many are on each location's shelf. A higher count takes from the stock not placed yet first. Only the boxes you change are saved.

**4. Save**

Select **Save**.

## Good to know

* A product sold only at some locations isn't listed, and can't be sold, anywhere else, at the counter or online.
* A product with sizes is never sold without one.
* Merch bought with a bay or court booking is its own pickup order. The booking's confirmation links to your Shop at the booked location.
* A full refund puts the products back in stock where they were sold. A partial refund doesn't move stock. See [Refund a sale](/business/payments/refund-a-sale.md).
* Team members who work at only some of your locations sell and count stock at those locations. Adding products, or changing a product's name, price, sizes or where it's sold, needs someone who works at every location. See [Locations and team access](/business/team/location-access.md).
* Don't see **Orders** or **Quick sale**? Ask an owner to give you the Checkout clients permission. Counting stock needs the Manage retail items and inventory permission.
