Some services need more than a team member: a facial needs a treatment room, a laser treatment needs the laser. Tell Onsuki what each service needs, and clients are only offered times when the team member and the room or machine are both free.

## Before you start

* Add your rooms and equipment first. See [Add rooms and equipment](/business/catalog/rooms-and-equipment).

## Choose what the service needs

You can ask for two kinds of things, and a service can use both:

* **Resource categories**: one resource from each category. Pick **Rooms** when any free room will do. Onsuki picks a free room at the location being booked.
* **Specific resources**: every one you add. Pick these when the service needs that exact room or machine, such as the room with the laser.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the service">
    In the menu, go to **Catalog**, then **Services**, and select the service.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to Resources">
    Select **Resources** in the list beside the form, or scroll down to it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a category">
    Next to **Resource categories**, select **Add**. Select the categories the service needs, then select **Select 1 category** (or **Select 2 categories**, and so on).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add specific resources">
    Next to **Specific resources**, select **Add**. Search, or filter with **Category**, select the rooms or equipment the service needs, then select **Add 1 resource** (or **Add 2 resources**, and so on).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Save** at the top of the page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Frame caption="The Resources section of a service, with a category and a specific resource added">

</Frame>

You see "Service saved." From then on, your booking site and the calendar only offer a time when what the service needs is free. When a booking takes the last free room at 2pm, 2pm stops being offered for that service, even if a team member is free. When that booking is canceled, the time comes back.

To take something off a service, select it under **Resources** and select **Save**.

You can also choose resources when you add a new service. They are saved with it.

## Good to know

* Resources apply to new bookings only. Appointments already booked keep what they had.
* A service can need up to 20 resources and categories together. Past that, Onsuki shows "Maximum number of resources reached for this service."
* A category with nothing in it shows **0 resources** and cannot be selected. Add a resource to it first.
* If a resource's category is already on the service, that resource is not offered under **Specific resources**, because the category already covers it.
* A room or machine you add to a category later is used right away by every service that needs that category.
* With more than one location, a specific resource has to be at every location where the service is offered. If it is not, Onsuki stops you, for example "Barber chair isn't at TITAN Conrad, so this service couldn't be booked there." Use a category instead, so each location uses its own.
* Don't see **Resources** on a service? Courts and bays are set up under their own section. If you have no rooms or equipment yet, the section shows **Set up resources**.
* You cannot delete or archive a room or machine while a service still needs it. Remove it from the service under **Resources** first, or archive the service.
* If clients cannot find a time, check that the room or machine is free and has opening hours at that location. [A time is not showing on my booking site](/business/troubleshooting/time-not-showing) walks through the checks.
