# Add a service

> Create a service with a price and duration, and choose who offers it.

A service is anything a client books one-on-one: a haircut, a facial, a personal training session. Each service has a price, a duration and the team members who offer it.

## Add the service

  <Step title="Open Services">
    In the menu, go to **Catalog**, then **Services**.

  <Step title="Select Add">
    Select **Add** at the top of the page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the basic details">
    Under **Basic details**, enter the **Name** clients will see. Add a **Description**, a **Category**, a **Calendar Color** and a photo with **Add image** if you like.

  <Step title="Set the price">
    Under **Default settings**, enter the **Price** and choose how it shows:

    * **Fixed**: clients see the exact price.
    * **Starting At**: clients see "From" the price and are told the final price is set at their visit. You enter the final amount when you check them out.
    * **Price Hidden**: clients see no price.

  <Step title="Choose the duration">
    Choose the **Total Duration**. Onsuki only offers times when the whole duration is free.

  <Step title="Choose the locations">
    If your business has more than one location, choose the locations that offer the service under **Locations**. To charge a different amount at one of them, turn on **Different price here** and enter the **Price**.

  <Step title="Choose who offers it">
    If you have more than one team member, choose who offers it under **Staff**. Everyone is selected to start with.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add rooms or equipment (optional)">
    If the service needs a room or a machine, add it under **Resources**: a category under **Resource categories** when any one of them will do, or an exact room or machine under **Specific resources**. See [Require a room or equipment for a service](/business/catalog/services/rooms-and-equipment).

  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Save**.

You see "Service added." and the service opens, so you can set more, such as a price for each staff level or a deposit.

## Keep a service off your booking site

To make a service your team can book but clients cannot, turn off **Available to book online** under **Basic details**. It stays on your calendar for your team. See [Hide a service from your booking site](/business/catalog/services/hide-a-service).

## Good to know

* A service needs at least one team member who offers it. If you clear everyone under **Staff**, Onsuki stops you with "Pick at least one team member who offers this service. With nobody, clients can't book it."
* If clients cannot find a time for the new service, check that the team members who offer it have working hours at that location. [A time is not showing on my booking site](/business/troubleshooting/time-not-showing) walks through the checks.

* To charge more for senior team members, use staff levels, not a copy of the service. See [Charge a different price by staff level](/business/catalog/services/prices-by-staff-level).
