# Get things done with the assistant

> Type what you need in plain English or Taglish, then confirm each change on a card.

The assistant does the everyday work of your dashboard when you type it: book a client, record a payment, see who owes, check someone in. Write the way you would ask a person, in English or Taglish. Every change shows on a card first, and nothing is saved until you confirm it.

## Ask the assistant

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open it">
    On a computer, select **Ask** at the bottom of the menu. On a phone or tablet, select the sparkle at the top of the screen. You can also type in search and choose **Ask**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type what you need">
    For example, "Who owes us?", "Book a haircut tomorrow at 3 PM" or "May bakante ba bukas ng umaga?" You can also select one of the **Suggested** questions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the card">
    The assistant answers with a card: a list to pick from, or the change it is about to make, with the client, the time and the amount.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Select the card's button, such as **Record payment** or **Book**, to save the change. Select **Change** to fix something first.

## What it can do

* **The day:** what is booked, marking arrivals, completed visits and no-shows, and cancelling.
* **Appointments:** finding free times, booking, repeating bookings, moving a booking and blocking time.
* **Classes:** the roster, adding someone to a class or its waitlist, and checking people in.
* **Getting paid:** who owes, recording a payment, copying a pay link, and approving or rejecting a receipt.
* **Selling:** a package or a membership, refunds, and free credits.
* **Clients:** finding a client, adding one, and saving a staff note.
* **Setup:** closing your business for a day, changing a service's price, and setting one person's hours for a day.
* **Courts, stays, events, shop orders and stock,** when your business uses them.
* **Your numbers:** sales for a day or a range, money collected, and your top clients.

For anything else, it points you to the screen where it is done.

## Good to know

* **It follows your permissions.** Each person can ask only for what their role and permissions allow.
* **What it sends.** What you type, and the client names, services, bookings, dates and balances it needs to answer, go to OpenAI to work out the reply. Phone numbers, emails and notes in your records are not sent unless you type them, and client charts are never sent.
* **Check each card.** The assistant can misread what you meant. The card shows exactly what will be saved, so read it before you confirm.
* **Your monthly AI use.** The assistant and the concierge share your plan's AI allowance. When most of it is used, the panel says how much. See [Your AI use and the AI add-on](/business/ai/ai-use-and-add-ons).
* **History.** Select the history button at the top of the panel for your earlier conversations, or the new chat button to start over.
